*For students currently attending language school, college or university in the U.S., and transferring to SMC.

This office is responsible for processing all international student applications, registration, and non-immigration matters. It also provides the following verification letters and forms:

  • Full time status/units enrolled (free)
  • Transfer clearance (free)
  • Expense breakdown for one year (free)

Tuition and fees per individual semester/session beginning Fall 2009 are as follows:

Non-resident Tuition

$ 221 per unit

Enrollment Fee $ 26 per unit
SMC Health Fee $ 14 per semester ($11 per Winter or Summer session)
Student Association Fee $ 19 per semester/session
Student Identification Card $ 13 per semester/session
Health Insurance Policy $ 390 coverage for one semester and one session
Intensive English Program $ 2,500 Fall 2009
Intensive English Program $ 1,100 Winter 2010
Intensive English Program $ 2,750 for Spring 2010 and Fall 2010
Intensive English Program $ 1,500 Summer 2010

You must fill out a request and have a receipt or student ID upon pickup. Allow 5 working days for preparation. The office also replaces lost I-20's; please allow 5 working days for preparation.

Officers are also available to answer questions about visas and admission requirements.

Note: In addition, you will need to submit the following admission requirements directly to International Admissions:

 

  • TOEFL score of 450 (133 CBT).
  • Essay (describing your reasons for applying to Santa Monica College usually one or two pages)
  • Official Transcripts from your secondary school and/or college or university.
    If the transcript is not in English you will need to have an official translation in English.
  • Complete and submit the International Student Financial Statement. In addition, the application and/or sponsor(s) must submit a bank statement showing a minimum of $20,532 USD to meet SMC's estimated tuition and living expenses. Further financial documentation may be required.
  • General Requirements for International Students. You must read, sign, and return this with your application.

Receiving Your Documents: If you would like to receive your I-20 and admission documents by express mail, please pre-pay for shipping at https://study.eshipglobal.com. Create an account and pre-pay. When you are asked to enter a “Student ID#”, please enter your Santa Monica College ID number if you have received it, or enter 90405 if you do not have a Santa Monica College ID number. We will print out the shipping label and mail your documents. We can also ship your documents by airmail at no charge to you.
